It has been another incredible year for Brockwell Swimmers Channel Relays with three successful teams crossing to France and raising over £6,840 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute. All teams again sailed on the Connemara skippered by our trusted skipper Kevin Sherman.
Team One started at 4:22am on Monday 15th July with five girl members including Miriam Parish, Gail Edmans, Grace Taylor, Kimberly Broom and Zoë Tynan-Campbell. This was a night start and coniditions were a little choppy to start. However the waves eventually calmed down and the team landed in France after am impressive 12 hour 5 minute swim.
Team Two started at 6am on Wednesday 17th July with a four members including Alan McCormack, Harriet Westcott, Katie Browne and Martin Bourke. Conditions were pretty smooth with other channel crossing boats in view. The team eventually landed at Plage du Chatelet after a very respectful 12 hours 49 minutes.
Team Three started at 8:27am on Thursday 1st August with six members including Carrie Whale, Hannah Gillespie, Kathleen Byrne, Molly Lueck, Ollie Brothwood and Tom Mead. The morning started with rain, but that soon eased off and the water was calm. After a few jelly fish encounters, luckily non-stingers, the team landed in France after 12 hours 44 minutes.
