Brockwell Lido The Brockwell Swimmers club is based at Brockwell Lido; an unheated open-air Lido in Herne Hill, South London, SE24. The pool is open all year for both Winter and Summers swimming. Challenging during the colder months and blissful on a hot sunny day. The Brockwell Swimmers club was formed in January 2016 by a group of Lido users keen to see more swimming activities at this historic South London landmark. The aims and objectives of the Club are to promote participation of the whole community in the sport of swimming. We work to facilitate and encourage the teaching, development and practice of good swimming both at the pool and open water. We also work with Lambeth Council and Fusion Management to ensure the continued accessibility of this public facility for the local community. As well as events at the Lido, the club organises indoor Water Polo and Swim Sessions at local indoor pools, as well as taking part in national and international club events and swims. We also organise Summer walk/swims, club socials and liaise with other swimming clubs.
An Epic Channel Relay 2023
Having been in training for months and completed their qualifying swims, our team of four, Colm Leonard, Emily Chittock, Miriam Parish and Przemek Szafran, travelled down to Folkstone ready for their attempt to swim the English Channel. Weather delayed the start by one day, but luckily the sea calmed down and Kevin, the skipper of […]
Smashing our Channel Goal
On Saturday 12th August Brockwell Swimmers started our Channel Challenge by attempting to swim the same distance collectively at the Lido (this is before our five person relay team who will be swimming Dover to France on Monday). Fusion kindly supplied a lane for the event and swimmers started at 9am with a deadline of […]

Winchelsea Rye Circular Swim/Walk
An unashamedly romantic 10 mile walk through the remnants of an ancient, half-abandoned town, across desolate marshes and past a ruined castle to the coast for a swim. The historic towns of Rye and Winchelsea are famous for their cobbled streets, timber-framed houses and scenic marshland. But beyond the tourist trail some surprising stories await. […]

This will be a combined swim with a goal of reaching a total distance of 21 miles, which measures 676 lengths of the lido. How many of these could […]
Spring Club Relays 2023
It was wonderful to welcome back local clubs Clapham Chasers, Crystal Palace Triathletes and Windrush to brave the barmy waters of Brockwell Lido for our annual Spring Club Relays on Thursday night 25th May. Races started promptly at 8pm with water temperature at a predictable 18.5ºC, which is almost tropical for this outdoor unheated pool. […]
Swimming with the Tide
Brockwell regular and local writer Freya Bromley has been on a tour of British tidal pools to explore the healing power of wild swimming and the space it creates for reflection, rewilding, and hope. Together with her friend Miri, the adventure took her from a pool hidden in the cliffs of fishing-village Polperro to the […]
Brockwell Club Relays Spring and Summer 2023
The Brockwell Swimmers club will be holding our usual invitation relays for clubs from around London happening Thursday 25th May 8pm to 9pm and Thursday 20th July 2023 7pm to 8pm. These are more of a fun social event rather than competative and we are keen for as many Lido swimmers to be represented as […]
