Brockwell Lido The Brockwell Swimmers club is based at Brockwell Lido; an unheated open-air Lido in Herne Hill, South London, SE24. The pool is open all year for both Winter and Summers swimming. Challenging during the colder months and blissful on a hot sunny day. The Brockwell Swimmers club was formed in January 2016 by a group of Lido users keen to see more swimming activities at this historic South London landmark. The aims and objectives of the Club are to promote participation of the whole community in the sport of swimming. We work to facilitate and encourage the teaching, development and practice of good swimming both at the pool and open water. We also work with Lambeth Council and Fusion Management to ensure the continued accessibility of this public facility for the local community. As well as events at the Lido, the club organises indoor Water Polo and Swim Sessions at local indoor pools, as well as taking part in national and international club events and swims. We also organise Summer walk/swims, club socials and liaise with other swimming clubs.
Kings Cross Pond preview
Thanks to Calum Hudson (@EdenSwim), and Allan Rae at Fusion Lifestyles, some of us lucky Brockwell Swimmers got an early dip at the new Kings Cross Pond. Meeting at the station we headed north not really knowing where the pool was. However, us swimmers must have a nose for water and managed to stumble across the […]

Beautiful Film of Cold Water Swimming
There are some absolutely beautiful films on the web at the moment illustrating the joys of cold water swimming, but this 2010 short film from the Faroe Islands takes some beating. Waves – A Portrait of Maria á Heygum – A film by Heiðrik á Heygum.
Book Review – Down Stream
Down Stream: A History and Celebration of Swimming the River Thames (Aurum Press) by Caitlin Davies Review by Tim Sutton: I have always lived in London, and rather taken the Thames for granted. To me it brings thoughts of dark dirty water, thrashing propellors and Dickensian drownings, so it is not somewhere I would consider swimming. So to […]
Fancy trying Water Polo?
Brockwell Swimmers have been offered the loan of some Water Polo equipment from an ASA member who is keen to promote the sport. This includes 2 goals, the balls, those lovely hats and an explanation of the rules. Should be fun. The evening slot would include a simple 10 minute introduction to water polo technique, then games […]

Three Londoners, Chris, James and Matt, have dreamt up the fantastic idea of creating a new floating lido in the River Thames. After only 18 months of hard work the plans have been drawn up and a site found. Their vision is to create a swimming lido that reclaims the river, not just for people […]
