Brockwell Swimmers Water Polo have just finished their 4th outdoor season with a win (6-5) against new ‘rivals’ at Parliament Hill Lido, in what may be the start of a new Water Polo league in London.
This summer BS have played a number of games against other Lidos in London, creating an unofficial ‘league’ of recreational, mixed gender teams based at outdoor swimming locations. While it’s all played in the name of having fun, there is talk of getting a trophy for a tournament between the pools next year, as well as inviting other Lidos to play their teams. Typically, Water Polo in the UK is largely limited to competitive teams so we’re really enjoying having other recreational teams to play with.

With the great weather for (most of!) this summer, we’ve enjoyed lots of great nights out poolside at Brockwell, Tooting Bec and Parliament Hill Lidos as well as nights out at the pub afterwards. Following a match to celebrate Parliament Hill’s 80th anniversary, we were even lucky enough to attend a pool-side bar-b-que.
The fun continues indoors over the winter with sessions beginning 9 Sept at St Joseph’s College pool in West Norwood. All are welcome, including beginners and there will also be plenty of post-training drinks at the pub.
